Dan Fenner is a lifelong visual historian and preservation advocate with more than four decades of experience in photography, imaging technology, and archival workflow. A Minnesota native, Dan began his career at the White Bear Press while studying commercial photography, and later joined the Minneapolis Star Tribune, where he spent 20 years in the photo department. There, he helped lead the newspaper’s landmark transition from black-and-white to color and eventually into the era of digital photography.

Over the course of his career, Dan has supported photographic coverage from some of the world’s most significant events — from national political conventions and World Series championships to international conflict zones, Arctic expeditions, and historic cultural moments. He has coordinated complex processing and transmission logistics for photojournalists working across the globe.

After leaving the Star Tribune, Dan served as a consultant and trainer for Agfa, working with newspapers across the United States to modernize their imaging systems. He later spent 11 years with Apple, managing Twin Cities retail locations and guiding creative professionals through evolving digital tools and workflows. Most recently, he was named Director of Analog Technologies at Praxis Photo Center, where he continues to support film-based and historical image processes.
